Welcome!

In March of 2013, we made a trip to Thailand, Cambodia, Viet Nam, Korea and Japan.

Our goals were to visit the far away places, to see the way people live their daily lives, to immerge into the local cultures that we are unfamiliar with in each country we visit.  We wanted to see the temples, the floating market in Thailand that we heard so much about.  We wanted to see the world’s largest religious complex of Angkor Wat temple that we read only in book and saw it only on TV.  In Vietnam, there are so many contrasts in sub-culture of each region that we wanted to discover.  While we’re in the Southeast Asia, we decided to swing by Japan during the cherry blossom season to join the Japanese in celebration of their biggest festivity of the year.  Since Seoul is just a stone throw away from Japan, we thought that a little chit chat with the locals about war and peace over Kim-Chi and Korean BBQ was in order.

We came home in awe of what we experienced.  We felt so ignorant after what we encountered along the trip.  The world is still a  beautiful place full of nice and gentle people that go about their daily lives just like you and me.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip, met many new and old friends along the way.  We had a blast!

Here’s our recollection of the trip. Hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we did!

The people in these pictures below somewhat convey the spirit of the countries we visited.

Thai school girls on their field trip in Damnoen Saduak floating Market.  They are young, energetic and upcoming!

Cambodian pupils going home after school near Siem Reap. They are sincere and innocent in the third world country that they live in.

Ho Song Huong...The pair was outwitting each other with love songs and poems that typify the culture of Hue.

Children of the Vietnamese minority groups in Sapa.  Tourism helps some aspect of their lives, but somehow contaminates their world!

Changing of the guard at Imperial Palace in Seoul, Korea.  How appropriate! Particularly, with the recent tension between the North and the South.

Kimono clad girls during the cherry blossom festivity near Geisha district in Kyoto, Japan.  They are elegantly conservative.
