Sue-saw-day...
We landed in Siem Reap Airport and the way the Immigration officers were hollering and yelling at us to come to their lines as if they’re trying to present to us as a way to speed up the lines but I wondered if there’s a secondary motive…quite a commotion.
Siem Reap is a small town, and in many ways it still has a long way to go as an international city. Its infrastructure is still lacking. But looking thru the eyes of children in the streets at Angkor Wat and in the floating village that we visited, I saw a gleam of hope in their eyes. The sincerity in their actions of what I encountered made me feel good that they still carry on the basic human goodness that one liked to see.
At Angkor Wat, we saw what appeared to be the carving of a dinosaur on the wall that some theorists believed that we and them were co-existed at sometime in the past...hummmmm!. We also went to see the Temple Bayon and The terrace of Elephant. Quite awesome!
The next day, we rode the oxcart passing by rice fields, small villages. From there, we rode the boat thru a small canal to visit a fishing village near lake Tonlesap. The boat got stuck on the way there. Luckily, with the determination of the boat captain, rolled up his sleeve and worked the engine we were free at last...:). It was quite an experience to see how the people live in this part of the world.
